This morning I tuned into ITV’s daytime programme to try and catch Bean and the Sisterhood who were live on TV discussing their attempts to be the first female squad to row the channel which they plan to do on the 24th/25th August. Several of the girls from the sisterhood have worked with me in the past couple of months and results have been good.
Anyway, I missed the girls and found myself listening to the TV doctor discussing Men’s Health and responding to male ailments from around the country in a phone-in.
It’s not unusual to hear Men complaining of erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation and off-colour urine and the wives calling in to express concern about their partner refusing to go to the doctor and that she is obviously worried about him!
All normal stuff right? My question is what was the doctor doing on TV as he simply did not answer any of the guys questions! You know this drives me mad. All he did was encourage them to go their GP (unsurprisingly) and get some Viagra or cialis – not from the internet mindst – to help them.
Viagra is a synthetic drug that does not get to the root cause of your problem, but is, I’m sorry to say, the only answer that your doctor will be able to give you. Chances are that long term the use of Viagra will worsen your condition and make you reliant on yet another prescription drug.
Why not discover exactly what the problem is and begin to look at curing the condition as opposed to hiding behind your shame. If you can’t get an erection, it’s your bodies way of making you sit up and take notice; and Lord knows that blokes will notice that type of thing.
What could be going wrong?
Sexual hormone dysfunction. Psychological issues. Poor nutrition. Exhaustion and adrenal stress. Thyroid problems… the list goes on and on. Once again it’s a symptomatic response to negative developments in your system that have been recurring over a longer period of time. Trouble is now you are noticing it and you want a quick cure. BUT you NEED a correction of the underlying cause so the problem doesn’t develop into something worse like impotence or an inability to have children full stop.
• Have a look at your diet. Is it healthy? What is healthy for you?
• Weigh up how much you sleep? Are you getting 8 hours of unbroken sleep in a dark room each night?
• How much do you exercise? Too little or too much? Is the exercise you are doing beneficial to you?
Your body is a complicated hormonal juggling act - to balance your hormones so that EVERYTHING works correctly, you need to be able to relax, de-stress, put good fuel and water into your system and move or exercise enough to stimulate your body while getting optimum rest as well.
This applies to women as well; if you are struggling to fall pregnant or are susceptible to miscarriage, you need to reassess your lifestyle, your diet and your exercise.
Far too many of us are swept away by life. Working hard for our income, staying up late to watch tele, saving money on poor quality food and placing our faith and our reliance on other people rather than believing in and relying on ourselves. The result is emotional overload, poor nutritional health, dehydration, exhaustion and guess what? None of us even realise it… until it’s too late.
To conclude this piece I want to underline that when it’s too late, there’s lots of work to do. You have to change the habits and break the patterns that have led you to where you are. Synthetic drug solutions won’t help you do that, they are simply delaying the inevitable. Curing not preventing…
My Mum has followed a Polyunsaturated free diet for the past five weeks; consuming only saturated fat, high quality organic protein and limited vegetables that are also poly fats free, as well as fruit juice and gelatine. Last week her liver results returned to normal and her cholesterol was a little high (which is of no surprise to me as she has been detoxing wildly since beginning the anti-PUFA diet). She has also been taking Maca and three days after starting it she experienced her first full nights unbroken sleep for years. Maca is known as peruvian viagra and is an amazing natural remedy for post-menopausal women as well as men and women who are struggling to conceive or have hormonal problems. Great results where Mum is concerned and several friends I have been trialling it with too - including me!
